Meet The Sewing Chick
Welcome to my blog, I am glad you are here!! I am Tessa Marie Walker, a forty-something (update – I passed my 50th birthday!!) mom to three great kids and wife to a wonderful guy who supports me in all my endeavors. I know, more of a hen than a chick, but the old sewing hen didn’t have quite the same ring to it. I am also a life-long sewing enthusiast and fabric collector. My style tends to reflect both vintage and modern attributes, as long as there is an element of “pretty”.
I was taught to sew by my mother and later in junior high school (remember when they taught home economics in school?) I started with sewing clothes for my Barbies, then clothes for myself, my babies and children. I have made curtains, pillows, dust ruffles, table covers and other decor for my home. But the children are growing up (two already in college), my house is decorated and my itchy sewing fingers have found a new love — quilting. Fueled by all the gorgeous fabrics on the market and the trend towards modern quilts (I never was one for calico) and the on-line quilting community, I am so excited about this new phase of my sewing “career”. I am also hopeful that it will fill the empty nest that I am all too aware is fast approaching.
I discovered my first quilting blog a few years ago and have enjoyed watching the community grow and blossom. I am delighted that there are other women out there like me that are passionate about cutting fabric into bits and sewing it back together again to create something beautiful and unique. I always felt like a bit of a nerd in that regard and am so happy to have found my peeps!! That’s why I am thrilled to be joining the party with my own blog and hope that it gives relevance and meaning to what I always thought was just my little hobby.
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Sewing!!
